(Landscape of the Year)

Design Guide - Domestic Case Study
Project Name: Jinhua Yanweizhou Park
Location: Jinhua City, Zhejiang Province, China
Design Purpose: Sponge City, Flood Control
Area: 26 hectares
Completion: 2014
Awards: 2015 World Architecture Festival (WAF) Landscape of the Year Award (Landscape of the Year) In

the case of China, I refer to the Yanweizhou Park in Jinhua, Zhejiang. It is one of the most hydrophilic river flood control designs on the earth in recent years. In 2015, he won the World Architecture Festival (WAF) Best Landscape Award of the Year. It can be seen that the landscape design of "City and Flood as Friends" has been internationally recognized and has unique reference value in flood control plants.

In the case of the hard-scape design, the flood-proof hard shore in the park area is removed, and the principle of filling and excavation on-site balance is applied to transform the river bank into a terraced planting belt that can be submerged in floods of different return periods. The elevation of the terraced bank at the bottom of 39.43m is 20 When the flood occurred in the year, the entire head of the continent was submerged. The top of the terraced levee is 40.8m, which can meet the height of 40.71m in the 50-year flood. At this time, the entire terraced area is submerged, and the internal site is kept intact, achieving elastic flood protection with the flood. This measure not only increased the flood section of the river, but also slowed the flow of water, relieved the flood control pressure on the side of the city, and improved the hydrophilicity of the park's adjacent water interface. The site also uses 100% infiltration coverage, including large-scale sand pavement as a place for people to flow, a bubble-shaped rainwater collection pool combined with planting, and permeable concrete road pavement and ecological parking for vehicle traffic. , to achieve a water-elastic design throughout the site.

In the case of the softscape design, the terraced fields are adapted to the seasonal flooding of native vegetation, and the terraced retaining wall is an accessible pedestrian network, making the waterfront of the riverside a beautiful landscape with both rest and flood protection functions. The annual floods of perennial tall grasses on terraces bring enough sand, moisture and nutrients to flourish and grow without any fertilization and irrigation. At the same time, the terraced river bank will store and filter non-point source pollution and rainwater from the land to avoid pollution to the river. In the flood control terraced planting area, the area uses the design difference of the flood control embankment to make use of the perennial ornamental grass landscape with a rich rural atmosphere. Compared with the general garden plants, the ornamental grass has the advantages of cold resistance and pruning resistance, and the maintenance cost is low and the management is extensive. It is complemented by bamboo and the rich seasons of metasequoia, black mulberry and acacia, which are designed to create a tranquil rural landscape in a noisy city. Here are some of the plants in the park:

Common Reed
Bulrush
Manchurian Wild Rice
Softstem Bulrush
Chinese Spinach
Cogongrass
Umbrella Papyrus

Block partitioning

block: wetland conservation area. Yanweizhou is a secondary wetland with lush vegetation. It is not only a seed resource bank for native plants but also a habitat for many animals and shelters. It is also a transit station for a variety of migratory birds. The existing Zhoutou Wetland in Yanweizhou is a rare and fresh oasis in the downtown area of Jinhua. According to the landscape design, we will take into account the wetland protection and the desire of the citizens to get close to nature. Considering the natural basement characteristics of the Zhoutou Wetland and the ability of various living organisms to resist human disturbance, a level of protection zone is set. It is divided into two types: restricted access areas that allow visitors to enter or approach wetlands for observation and study, and core protected areas that are prohibited from entering, fully retaining the landscape form of their natural wilderness, and will be based on this series. Ecological restoration measures, improve and enrich the food chain of the site, promote the improvement of wetland biodiversity, and form a healthy, self-sustaining recycling ecosystem. From the landscape pedestrian bridge overlooking, you can see a wider view of the wetland: the ponds in the shade of the trees are hidden, the small animals in the forest, the reeds gently shake, the insects in the ears, the birds, or the reeds fly out A group of waterfowl, hovering over the head of the island... The tranquil wetland atmosphere will make people forget the hustle and bustle of the city.

Block 2: Sports and recreation area. The area is home to the Chinese Theater, and it contains most of the riverside coastline and is adjacent to the protected wetlands. It not only serves as a transition between the wetlands and the city but also the area where the dams are located. The area is designated as a variety of sports and leisure activities and is a more comprehensive area. Here, the Linxia Pedestrian Square, the flood control terraces and the wetland experience area will be built to create a patchwork square leisure space.

Block 3: Central Water Scenic Area. The block mainly consists of a water stage, a leisure stand, a central water feature, a sunken plaza and a constructed wetland. It is an important landscape node that combines the functions of distributed leisure and literary performance. Based on considerations of tourist behaviour habits, hydrophilic preferences and performance stage effects, the block will be built with a circular stage, separated by artificial wetlands, separated from the auditorium by semi-annular shallow water, and designed several platforms. The height difference is convenient for performance use. The strip-shaped platform in the block is connected to the stage around the pool, and the circular planting islands are scattered among them to form a large and comfortable resting space under the forest. Constructed wetlands in the area can regulate the microclimate and form a rich aquatic landscape.

Block 4: Commercial office area. The area is the interface between the park and the city. It is close to Dongshi Street and Binhong Road. It has more complicated transit traffic and is suitable for commercial office operations. Therefore, the area is positioned as a commercial office area.
